Event types let you offer different kinds of meetings through your scheduling page, each with its own duration, location, availability rules, and approval settings.
For example, you can create separate event types for phone screens, live video interviews, and in-person meetings.
To manage your event types, go to Jobs management > Setup > Event types.
The default Live Interview event type
Live Interview appears as an event type by default. When you approve a request for this event type, Spark Hire creates a Live Video Interview and sends the invitation.
To hide Live Interview from your scheduling page, turn off the toggle next to it and select Save.
Create an event type
-
From the Event types tab, select Create new event type.
- Complete the event details:
- Event name — The name people see and select on your scheduling page.
- Subject — The subject of the calendar invitation created when the request is approved.
- Description — The description included in the calendar invitation.
-
Location — The location included in the calendar invitation. This may be a physical address, phone number, or meeting information.
- Select Continue.
Configure scheduling settings
Choose how and when people can request this event type:
-
Pooled calendar availability — Determines how availability is calculated when you have multiple calendars connected:
- Select All to offer a time only when all selected calendars are available.
- Select Any to offer a time when at least one selected calendar is available.
- Duration — How long the event lasts.
- Minimum notice — How far in advance someone must submit a request. This prevents last-minute bookings.
- Maximum booking — How far into the future someone can request an event.
- Start time intervals — How frequently available start times appear. For example, 15-minute intervals can display times such as 9:00, 9:15, and 9:30.
After configuring these settings, select Continue.
Configure approval settings
Choose whether requests for this event type should be approved automatically.
- If you turn on Enable automatic approval of this type of event to approve requests as soon as they are submitted, you'll need to then configure the available options:
- Choose the calendar where approved events should be added.
- Under Send an email on approval?, select Yes to send a confirmation email. You can write a message or select an existing template from the Library.
-
Under Create Live Interview?, select Yes to create a Spark Hire Live Video Interview when the request is approved. Then select the relevant job and choose whether to enable guest access.
- If automatic approval is turned off, requests must be reviewed and approved before the event is confirmed.
- When you’ve finished configuring the event type, select Save.

- Find the event type and select Edit.
- Update its details or scheduling settings.
- Select Save.
Show or hide an event type
Use the toggle next to an event type to control whether it appears on your scheduling page. Turning an event type off hides it without deleting its settings.
After turning an event type on or off, select Save.
Delete an event type
- Find the event type under Manage event types.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm that you want to delete it.
Copy a link for a specific event type
A direct event-type link lets someone book a specific type of event without choosing from all the event types on your scheduling page.
- Go to Jobs management > Setup > Event types.
- Find the event type you want to share.
- Select Copy link.
- Paste the link into your message.
| 💡Tip: To send personalized event-type links to multiple people, see Send custom scheduler links in bulk. |
