When many customers get started, one of the initial things they're curious about is the candidate experience.
More specifically...
- What do candidates receive?
- What do they see?
- How does it work for them?
- How can I test it myself?
This article aims to answer that for each Spark Hire Meet assessment type so simply jump to the section that's most relevant for you.
One-Way Video Interview
What do candidates receive?
If you invite candidates through Spark Hire to a one-way video interview (rather than using an invite link), they'll receive a branded email along with a text message (if you choose that option).
What do they see?
When a candidate receives an invitation, they'll be taken through a branded experience which not only provides them details about your organization, the job, and their interview (e.g. the deadline), but will also give them quick access to best practices, FAQs, and a way to contact support.
How does it work for them?
Below is a brief video which demonstrates the end-to-end candidate experience for one-way video interviews. Candidates can do the one-way video interview from any device with no app download required.
How can I test it myself?
If you’d like to test a one-way video interview yourself, simply send an invite to an email that's different from the one you're using to log in to Spark Hire Meet (e.g. a personal one).
Predictive Talent Assessment
What do candidates receive?
When you invite candidates through Spark Hire to take the Predictive Talent Assessment, they'll receive a branded email along with a text message (if you choose that option).
What do they see?
When a candidate receives an invitation, they'll be taken through a branded experience which not only provides them details about your organization, the job, and the assessment (e.g. the deadline), but will also give them quick access to FAQs and a way to contact support.
How does it work for them?
Candidates will answer a series of multiple choice questions that takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.
They are not timed when taking the assessment and can do it from any device.
Below is a brief video which demonstrates the end-to-end candidate experience for the Predictive Talent Assessment.
How can I test it myself?
If you’d like to test the Predictive Talent Assessment yourself, simply send an invite to an email that's different from the one you're using to log in to Spark Hire Meet (e.g. a personal one).
That said, when you complete the assessment, we strongly recommend that you don’t pay too much attention to the scoring even if you’re in a role that aligns with the Predictive Profile used.
Our research validates that employees will indeed answer differently than candidates so the assessment takes that into consideration when scoring the results.
Should I have current employees take the assessment and how can I use their results to improve what I do in the hiring process?
If you choose to have existing employees take the Predictive Talent Assessment, make sure they put themselves in an “applicant state of mind.”
After they complete it, you can view how they scored against the Predictive Profile used along with their Top Competencies.
Their Top Competencies can be used to identify patterns for the sake of building a Custom Predictive Profile.
Reference Check
What do candidates receive?
When you request references from candidates via Spark Hire, they'll receive a branded email along with a text message (if you choose that option).
What do they see?
The candidate will get the reference request via email and be directed to a branded landing page where they enter the contact information of their references. They can do this from any device.
How does it work for them?
Candidates enter the information for their references with an option to review it once more before they submit them. Once the references our submitted, Spark Hire automatically emails each reference.
What does the reference experience look like?
The references will get an email from Spark Hire (including reminders) requesting that they answer some questions about the candidate. Unlike candidates, references won’t know that you are the employer requesting the references. Instead, they are told that an employer using Spark Hire has requested references from the candidate and the candidate provided them as a reference.
How can I test it myself?
If you’d like to test it yourself before sending it to a candidate, request references from yourself by using a different email (e.g. a personal one) from the one associated with your current account. When you get the request as a candidate, you can enter different emails for the references or use a "+ alias" to the end of an email address such as "yourname+alias@example.com".
When you see the completed references, you’ll notice they will show an “IP Address” check which indicates that the references were requested and completed from the same device and/or network.
