The integration between Spark Hire and SmartRecruiters enables you to effortlessly create and manage interviews. This integration allows you to set up interviews in Spark Hire directly from SmartRecruiters, streamlining your workflow. You can also view or share Spark Hire interview links within SmartRecruiters, simplifying access for all users.
- Create interviews without the need to set up offers or await approval.
- Interviews are automatically generated based on your hiring process in SmartRecruiters.
1. Activate the integration in Spark Hire

In Spark Hire, go to Settings > Integrations and find SmartRecruiters on the list. Click Activate integration.

On the following page, click Go to SmartRecruiters. This will redirect you to their page.

Log in with your SmartRecruiters account when prompted and click Connect.

Select Allow and continue to authorize the integration.

After authorizing, check for the “Spark Hire is connected 🟢” confirmation at the top of the page. This means the integration has been successfully enabled and no further configuration is needed.

Return to Spark Hire to continue with the configuration.
2. Configure the integration in Spark Hire

Back in Spark Hire, click Configure integration to start the setup process.

On the next page, select the Configure SMS notifications option.
📝 Note: SMS notifications for candidates are only available for Growth and Enterprise plans. -
If your plan includes the SMS functionality, choose whether to send SMS notifications to candidates. If you check the box, candidates will receive SMS alerts when:
- They’re invited to an interview.
- The interview date is approaching.

Click Save configuration, then select Back to return to the previous screen.

Next, select the Configure packages option and complete the fields with the relevant information.
📝 Note: Packages must be set up before they can be selected in Smart Recruiters. - Package Name: Packages are called Assessments in SmartRecruiters. They link a Spark Hire job to a Spark Hire question set and an interview deadline. The integration then calls those packages to create interviews.
- Spark Hire Job: Select a position.
- Spark Hire Question Set: Select from your saved sets of questions.
- Interview Deadline: Select a deadline for the interview.

Click Add package.
⚠️ Important: If you delete a package in Spark Hire that is being used in SmartRecruiters, you must update the hiring processes in SmartRecruiters, as the package won’t be automatically removed and the integration will fail. |
3. Send interviews to your candidates
Single candidate interview

In SmartRecruiters, go to the People section and select a candidate. The candidate’s profile page will open.

Scroll down and click Order Assessments in the right-side menu. Choose an interview package from the list.

Click Continue at the top and confirm when prompted.
The status of the assessment will update in Smart Recruiters as it progresses (e.g., accepted, completed).
Job-level assessment
To automatically trigger interviews with Spark Hire assessments, configure a job workflow in SmartRecruiters. This ensures that when a candidate reaches a specific stage, the interview will be automatically scheduled.

In SmartRecruiters, go to Settings > Configuration > Hiring Process.

Click Create New Hiring Process in the top right corner and name it "Spark Hire."

Add a Video Interview step, then click Save Hiring Process before proceeding.

Click on the Video Interview step and select Assessments.

Choose the relevant assessment from the list and enable the Auto-trigger toggle. You’ll see a confirmation message when the assessment is successfully added.
Once the assessment is configured, you can navigate to the relevant candidate and assign them to the Interview step. This action will automatically trigger the selected assessment.
📝Note: For job-level assessments, the job owner in Spark Hire will be the person responsible for the assessment, not (necessarily) the user who initiates the action in SmartRecruiters. |
Send assessments in bulk

To send assessments to multiple candidates in bulk, go to the Jobs tab and select the relevant position.

Check the boxes next to all the candidates you want to send the assessment to and click Actions > Change status.

Change their status to Video Interview and click Change status to confirm.
4. Access candidates’ completed interviews in SmartRecruiters
Once candidates complete their interviews, you can access them from their profile.
- In SmartRecruiters, go to the People section and select the relevant candidate. The candidate’s profile page will open.
- Scroll down to the Assessments section in the right-side menu. In the Preferred tab, you'll find all the candidate’s completed interviews. You can access the interviews through two options:
- Watch link (top paperclip icon 📎): This link allows users to log in to their Spark Hire accounts and submit an evaluation for the interview.
- Share link (bottom paperclip icon 📎): This link enables users to view the interview without logging in to Spark Hire.
