Getting started

Before connecting with BambooHR, we suggest reviewing the supported functionality and prerequisites below.

Supported functionality

Prerequisites

• Authentication is done per-user so each user who is going to utilize the integration must authenticate between Spark Hire Meet and BambooHR.
• Jobs and question sets must be created in Spark Hire Meet and then configured as Interview Packages defined below.

Administrator setup

If you’re an Administrator user on your organization's Spark Hire account, follow these steps to connect the integration. 

1. Log in to Spark Hire as an Administrator, go to Settings > Integrations, and find BambooHR in the list.
2. Click Activate integration and then click Configure BambooHR. From here, follow the steps in sequential order.
3. Click Configure the connection.
4. Enter your BambooHR subdomain and click Save. 
5. This will redirect you to your BambooHR login screen which will prompt you to enter your BambooHR credentials. After you log in, you’ll be taken back to Spark Hire and your accounts will be successfully connected.
6. Go back to the configuration steps and click Configure the stage.
7. The stage you select is the Status in BambooHR which will trigger a Spark Hire interview when a candidate is moved to it. We recommend creating a new Status in BambooHR called Spark Hire interview.
8. Choose the relevant BambooHR Status and click Save stage.
9. Go back to the configuration steps and click Create Interview Packages.
10. An interview package allows you to configure a series of variables once and trigger interview invitations using these variables through the integration. This consists of a Spark Hire Job, a BambooHR Job, a Spark Hire Question Set, and an Interview Deadline. When you’ve made your selections, click Create Interview Package.
11. When you’re in BambooHR and move a candidate to the stage you configured for Spark Hire, the Interview Package tied to the BambooHR job is what will be initiated for the candidate. When this is completed, you’re ready to use the integration.

Managing users

As an Administrator user, you can disable the integration for users who have linked their Spark Hire account with BambooHR.

1. To do so, go to Settings > Integrations > BambooHR > Configure > Manager users
2. Click Unlink next to a user you want to disconnect and confirm this change in the modal that appears. This user’s connection between their Spark Hire and BambooHR accounts will be disabled. Keep in mind that the user can still manually reconnect their accounts on their own.

Non-administrator setup

If you’re a Standard User on your organization's Spark Hire account, follow these steps to connect the integration. 

1. Log in to Spark Hire as a Standard User and go to Settings > Integrations and find BambooHR in the list.
2. Click Activate Integration and then click Configure BambooHR.
3. On the next page, click Configure the connection.
4. Enter your BambooHR subdomain and click Save.
5. This will redirect you to your BambooHR login screen which will prompt you to enter your BambooHR credentials. After you log in, you’ll be taken back to Spark Hire and your accounts will be successfully connected.

Working with BambooHR

1. When you move a candidate to the BambooHR Status you configured for Spark Hire, the Interview Package set up for the BambooHR job will trigger and an interview invitation will be sent to the candidate.
2. When the candidate completes the Spark Hire interview, a link to watch the interview will be added as a comment under the Notes tab on the candidate profile in BambooHR.
