Plan: All plans

Proctoring helps your team quickly spot signals of possible misconduct during candidate assessments. It surfaces clear, lightweight alerts so you can focus review time where it matters.

Use Proctoring to:

  • Identify possible AI-generated content, accuracy concerns, or impersonation
  • See at a glance which assessments may need closer review
  • Add your team’s judgment to confirm or override platform signals

Before you begin

  • Proctoring is enabled by default for companies that have AI Video Review turned on
  • Admins or users with job settings permissions can turn Proctoring on or off per job for One-Way Video Interviews

Enable/disable Proctoring for One-Way Video Interviews

This setting option applies to all jobs.

  1. From the left-side menu, go to Jobs management > Job settings.
  2. Scroll down to Proctoring and toggle Flag AI-generated content on or off.
  3. Click Save at the bottom of the section. This will apply to all newly submitted assessments.

How it works

  1. When Proctoring is enabled, Spark Hire scans assessment responses for integrity signals. It does not block submissions or change scores, and your team always decides what to do next.

⚠️ Important: Signals indicate possibilities, not conclusions. Use them as input to your evaluation, alongside scorecards and interviews.
    • For One-Way Video Interviews: Looks for signs of AI-generated content or patterns uncommon in natural speech
      • Examples: Unusual phrasing, overly formal wording, inconsistent delivery
    • Predictive Behavioral Assessment: Spots possible accuracy issues
      • Examples: Inconsistent answers, careless responses
    • Automated Reference Checks: Detects possible impersonation
      • Example: Reference completed from the same IP address as the candidate
  2. Spark Hire signals results with a badge in the Assessments list, candidate profile, and Assessment viewer. Each badge includes a short explanation you can expand for details.
    • AI Proctoring: Authentic — No signals detected
    • AI Proctoring: Possible misconduct — One or more signals detected
  3. For One-Way Video Interviews, your team can also submit feedback and select a reason for the decision.
    • Team: Authentic — A reviewer marked the assessment as authentic
    • Team: Possible misconduct — A reviewer flagged concerns with an optional reason

Provide team feedback for One-Way interviews

After a One-Way Video Interview is submitted, Spark Hire processes the interview. If it detects signals of possible misconduct, it flags the interview with an AI Proctoring badge.

To add or update team feedback:

  1. Open the One-Way interview in the candidate profile or assessment viewer.
  2. Click the badge to open the dropdown, and in Team review, choose one option:
    • Authentic
    • Possible misconduct
  3. If you select Possible misconduct, choose a reason:
    • Reading scripted answers
    • Help from another person
    • Manipulated audio/video
  4. Select Submit.

What happens after you submit:

  • The Team badge becomes the primary one shown across Spark Hire Meet and overrides the AI Proctoring badge.
  • Each new team submission overrides the previous team review. Spark Hire Meet always shows the latest team review as the current status.
  • The dropdown keeps all views available, so you can still see the AI Proctoring details alongside the Team review, including who submitted the review and when.

Where you’ll see results

Assessments list

In the Assessments list, Spark Hire adds a Proctoring badge next to any flagged assessment. You’ll see:

  • An AI badge when the system detects a signal
  • A Team badge when a reviewer has provided feedback, overriding the AI badge

Candidate profile

On the candidate profile, Proctoring appears as a badge under Evaluations.

For One-Way interviews, the badge shows the latest status:

  • If only AI has flagged the interview, you’ll see an AI Proctoring badge
  • If a teammate submitted feedback, you’ll see a Team badge instead (team feedback is the priority signal)

No matter which badge is shown, you can open the dropdown to review both:

  • What the system detected
  • What your teammates submitted, including who submitted it and when

Assessment viewer

In the assessment viewer, the Proctoring badge appears at the top of the page. You can expand it to review details or submit team feedback (One-Way interviews only).
