| 📢 Role-aligned AI Video Review ratings is gradually rolling out to all customers. |
When reviewing a large volume of one-way interviews, it can be hard to know where to start. AI Video Review helps you prioritize responses by automatically rating each candidate based on core factors and role-specific criteria.
AI Video Review can use the job description, scorecard, interview questions, and candidate responses to evaluate how well a candidate aligns with the role.
This makes it easier to:
- Sort submissions to review the strongest candidates first
- Quickly understand the candidate’s strengths and areas of improvement
- Evaluate candidates against the criteria that matter for the role
- Reduce time to hire and close the best talent before the competition
Prerequisites & limitations
- AI Transcriptions and AI Summary must be enabled.
- Only English responses are supported; AI Video Review does not evaluate answers in other languages.
- A job description or detailed scorecard must be provided so AI Video Review has enough context for role-aligned ratings.

Configure AI Video Review for a job
When AI Video Review is enabled, you can choose what it evaluates for each job. This helps AI Video Review align ratings with the role.
AI Video Review can evaluate:
-
Core factors: Six general evaluation factors across two categories. You can turn Core factors on or off for each job and also adjust how AI weights each Core factor to better align with the role:
Competencies:
- Communication – The candidate communicates ideas clearly and confidently, keeps the audience engaged, and illustrates points with relevant examples.
- Execution – The candidate plans tasks logically, sets priorities, and follows through reliably to deliver quality results on time.
- Comprehension – The candidate understands each question’s intent and provides direct, complete responses that stay on topic.
- English proficiency – The candidate uses clear, professional English with correct grammar and vocabulary that is easy for listeners to follow.
Personal qualities:
- Enthusiasm – The candidate expresses genuine energy, curiosity, and positive interest in work, learning, and new challenges.
- Motivation – The candidate expresses drive, effort, and commitment toward work, problem-solving, and achieving goals.
- Scorecard (📢 In rollout): When Scorecard is selected, AI Video Review rates candidates using the job’s scorecard and job description. AI Video Review only rates traits when there is enough information in the candidate’s responses. If the job description includes requirements that are not in the scorecard, AI Video Review may generate and rate additional traits to cover those requirements. These traits appear with an AI-generated badge.
- Questions (📢 In rollout): When Questions is selected, AI Video Review rates interview questions when there is a clear expected response based on the job description.
-
Takeaways (📢 In rollout): When Takeaways is selected, AI Video Review summarizes findings into three sections:
- Pros: What the candidate appears to do well
- Concerns: Potential risks or gaps to review
- Further review: Areas a teammate should validate before making a decision
To configure factor importance for a job:
- Navigate to Jobs management > Jobs and open the relevant job.
- Jump to the Assessments tab.
- In the AI Video Review section, select Edit.
-
In AI Video Review, choose which AI evaluation settings to use. By default, all 4 will be selected:
- Core factors
- Scorecard (📢 In rollout)
- Questions (📢 In rollout)
- Takeaways (📢 In rollout)
📝 Note: If a previously submitted One-Way Video Interview already had an AI Video Review evaluation, it will show a star rating after you update the job’s AI Video Review settings. The star rating is based on the original AI Video Review score. It does not include newly selected role-aligned settings, such as Scorecard, Questions, or Takeaways. -
In Configure AI Video Review, adjust how AI weights each Core factor to better align with the role:
- Must
- Nice-to-have
- Not required
For example, you might set Communication to Must for a customer-facing role or English proficiency to Nice-to-have when it is not needed for the job.
- Save your changes.

- Moderate — The candidate showed some promise, but either provided mixed responses or lacked sufficient evidence to draw firm conclusions.
- Weak — The candidate showed limited strength, with responses suggesting potential gaps.

The overall AI Video Review score appears next to each candidate One-Way submission.
- The AI Video Review column also shows a numeric score badge from one to five.
- You can sort or filter the list to prioritize candidates with a Strong overall score.
On the candidate profile
Under the Spark Hire AI section, you’ll find AI Video Review results for the candidate. You can expand each rated factor, trait, or question to view the rationale for the rating. Depending on the job’s AI Video Review settings, this section may include:

- Question ratings
- Core factor ratings: Ratings may indicate when a factor was considered Nice-to-have or Not required based on the job’s configuration.
- Scorecard trait ratings: These may include AI-generated badges for traits added by AI from the job description and Nice-to-have badges for requirements with reduced weight in the overall score
