Video transcriptions enhance accessibility, collaboration, and efficiency in the hiring process. They allow you to review interview content quickly, search for specific phrases, and gain insights without watching the entire video.
Interview transcription is available in the Meet Growth and Enterprise plans and can be added to the Pro plan for a monthly fee.

How do video transcriptions work?
When transcriptions are enabled in Spark Hire, the system detects the spoken language and generates a transcript once a candidate completes a One-Way Video Interview.
The transcript appears below the video player and syncs with the interview playback. While watching the interview, the transcript will auto-scroll.
- Clicking on any line of text in the transcript or the question will play the corresponding part of the interview.
- If you manually scroll away, you can click Resume auto-scroll to realign the transcript with the video.
Limitations
- Transcriptions are available only for OWVIs and are not supported for Live interviews.
- Transcriptions are available only in the candidate’s spoken language. While the system detects and transcribes the language spoken during the interview, translations into other languages are not supported.
- Each transcript line has a 255-character limit for editing.

Enable interview transcription
To enable Interview transcriptions:
- Navigate to Jobs > Job settings and scroll down to Interview transcriptions.
- Click Enable interview transcriptions and confirm when prompted.
If an interview was completed before enabling transcription, a Transcribe button will appear, allowing you to generate a transcript manually.
Manage transcripts
With a transcripted interview, you will have the ability to search, edit, and download the transcript.
Search transcript
You can search the transcript to highlight matching words or phrases. Click the magnifying glass icon 🔎, enter your search term, and any matches will be highlighted. If there are multiple results, use the up and down arrows next to the search bar to navigate through them.
Edit transcript
To edit a transcript:
- Hover over a line of text and click the Edit button.
- Modify the text (max 255 characters per line) or delete the line if necessary.
- Click Save to apply changes or Cancel to discard them.
Download transcript
To download the transcript as a .txt file:
- Click the Download button next to the search field.
- Save the file to your device for offline reference.
Closed captions
Closed captions can be enabled during video playback by clicking the CC icon in the lower right corner of the video.
